Whether used to identify infectious agents, monitor outbreaks, or study pathogens in research, the quality of nucleic acid (NA) isolation significantly influences the entire diagnostic workflow.

MagSi-NA Pathogens Ultra is a total nucleic acid purification kit for the extraction of pathogens DNA and RNA from various human sample materials. The universal purification kit and protocol deliver high-quality DNA and RNA, which is a prerequisite for sensitive and reproducible downstream analysis, such as multiplex real-time PCR-based assays.

The purification procedure starts with a liquid sample or pre-homogenized sample such as serum/plasma, saliva, suspended stool, or eluates obtained from rinsed dried swabs. Liquid samples are incubated with the optimized Lysis Buffer PU. Subsequently, the MagSi-PU beads and Binding Buffer PU are added. Following a binding incubation and magnetic separation, the MagSi-PU beads are washed one to three times to remove inhibitors and contaminants. Finally, the purified total NA is eluted, and the purified fraction containing nucleic acids can be used directly for downstream pathogen detection.
